When God Carries You

We tend to feel and see God all around us when things are going well.

But when we encounter challenges, suffer losses, or experience pain or disappointment, there's a tendency to think that God is missing in action.

This is all so human. But it is a lie.

God is too good and too great to be defined by the limits of our humanity and individual experiences - good or bad.

Meet "the great carrier"

The truth is that there would be times when you just don't see, feel, or hear God.

At some point in your life, you would feel so lost and disconnected from the reality of any kind of divine presence.

That doesn't mean God has abandoned you or that God does not exist.

The children of Israel were in that situation. They were wandering in the wilderness with Egypt behind them and Canaan not anywhere in sight. They were in a terrain that stripped them of any sense of self-sufficiency.

That was when God became a "carrier" for His people.

You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself (Exo 19:4, NIV).

Just like in air travel, you need an airplane to carry you over mountains, valleys, seas, and oceans and land at your desired destination.

An airplane makes a journey that could have taken months in just a few hours.

Similarly, in life, there are many things and times that your human abilities will be inadequate. In such times, you can't go far without being carried.

When do you need the carrier?

Everyone would need help at various times in their lives. Maybe you are in serious trouble even as we speak, and help is hard to come by.

But God's help is always available.

He spreads his wings over them. Even as an eagle overspreads her young. She carries them upon her wings - As does the Lord his people! (Deut. 32:11, TLB).

You need a carrier every day of your life. But you will need an emergency flight if you are in a more desperate situation. For example:

  • When you are in the valleys of life

  • When it's all so dark around you

  • When you are going through the valley of the shadow of death

  • When you can't feel anything

  • When you can't see anything

  • When you can't hear anything

  • When you don't know the way forward

  • When you are too weak to take the next step

  • When all you hear is the sound of war or the noise of the enemy

  • When all you can see is a towering giant or a great army of the enemy

What if you refuse to be carried?

If you have so much trust in your abilities, you may feel disappointed when you can't help yourself. You may be disillusioned by your sense of helplessness.

This is when many get discouraged and want to turn back to Egypt instead of turning to God for help.

This is when many would be tempted to curse God and die.

This is where the modern man or woman struggles with their faith or finds it hard to sustain their belief in God.

They would rather blame God or become bitter than call for help.

The unfailing carrier

When your airplane is on the tarmac, you are hopeful to make your destination in time.

When God is your carrier, He will show up for you at the right time. His strength would more than compensate for your weaknesses.

He can help when you are completely helpless and lost.

He is all you need when you have come to the end of yourself.

You can completely rest on him. He can be fully trusted to carry you.

He carries better than all the airlines combined because He can carry as many that come to Him or call on Him.

He will carry you through the red seas of your own life.

You rise above the battles on the ground when God carries you.

He can pull down thrones and kingdoms for you.

He can cause the enemy to hear an invasion so you can have provision.

How far can God carry you?

If you board an airplane, you better have a return ticket, otherwise, you will be stranded on your return journey.

But our God is not like that. He carries you all through life. He would meet you at the 'airport' in every phase of your life.

And even to your old age, I am he, and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you (Isaiah 46:4, KJV).

He has promised to carry you from cradle to the grave, and beyond. He is not only able to carry you but also carry your luggage and baggage - nothing left behind.

He also promised to deliver you from storms along the way.

Get on board

God is able to carry you all the way. He is Jehovah, the carrier. Allow Him to carry you - through His Son Jesus Christ. It's too simple for many to comprehend.

What are you waiting for?

Get on board and let God wrap his powerful wings around you.

It is time for you to soar on eagles' wings.
